Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Southwinds G16 (Ocean View) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a particular New Bern attraction you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
