Tricks and tips to get the very best New Bern vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation rental in the New Bern area:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Private 3BR Historic Farmhouse near downtown New Bern on 33 acres has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
