Sticking to your budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Queens Court 1201, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
