Finding the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Beaufort. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Retreat \"Down East\" in Beaufort! - Waterfront, Private Dock, Kayaks, & Serenity! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
