Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect New Bern rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Indian Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Salt & Light, Oceanfront House in Indian Beach, NC! has 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
