May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.

- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words.
