Our top New Bern vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Pool, Game Room, 5 Ensuite BRs & Ocean Views! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
