Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Stress Less, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
