Booking the best Beaufort vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Gray Whale Cottage in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
