Tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing yourrental home:
- First, have your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. The Saltbox-Home in Atlantic Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
