Tips for getting the best rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking yourvacation home:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Tranquillis West, Almost Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.

  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it.
