Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right New Bern vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Wide, Sandy Beaches Await You! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you crave, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
