Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick a perfect New Bern vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT COMPLEX, CONDO IS NEAR OUTDOOR POOL & WATERSLIDE. BEACH ACCESS has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a particular New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
