Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 107 W Bogue Blvd Unit 3 Sleeps 7-2 BR-3 Levels-Overlooks Pool-steps from Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
