How to book the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To book the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best vacation rental in New Bern:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 1br Tranquil Condo Outdoor Gold & River Fun! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
