Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Atlantic Beach. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 1st Floor Unit With Ocean View, Swimming Pool, Elevators has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual New Bern attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
