Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Grey Goose (Waterfront) Historic New Bern - Private Beach - BRING YOUR BOAT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
