Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 5th Floor View of Beach and Ocean- Full condo- 2 pools- has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
