Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserve your New Bern rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Atlantic Beach Resort-Ramada by Wyndham has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
