How to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Pet Friendly Oceanside Duplex-Barefoot East has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
