Tips and Tricks to get the optimal New Bern rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful Home in Oceanfront Location w\/Vaulted Ceilings, Free WiFi, Deck, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
