How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfect New Bern rental home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Come feel the \"SEA BREEZE\" - Minimum 2 week rental starting on Sundays has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
