Finding the best rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy Condo renovated 2021 for your family! Waterslide, indoor pool&Putt Putt. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
