How to find the best New Bern vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your New Bern vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best rental:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Dock Holiday! with Boat Dock & Pet Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
