Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in New Bern. To book the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular New Bern attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Downtown Blue Manor 2 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
