Our top Rental home booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Indian Beach. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to select the best rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Fun in the sun only steps from your door! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
