Booking the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Emerald Isle Brand New Luxury Condo! Steps to Beach, Direct Beach Access! Pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
