Tucked in the center of the Crystal Coast, our comfortable beach getaway sits ocean-front above the dune in the Ocean Club complex. Watch sunrise with coffee from our roomy back porch; let the waves lull you to sleep as you snooze on the back-porch couch. Cook, eat and play games around the new dining room table, or snuggle down into the pillow couch to read or watch TV... Recline and read in the corner. Walk two mins. to the stairs to the beach and pool; our toy closet offers fishing poles, umbrellas, body board and a kayak; there are bicycles for rent near by; The complex has a boarded path leading to the pool and hot tub; wooden path leads to a huge dune-top outdoor shower and deck and stairs down to the beach. Across the street we have a private complex fishing pier, and another pool and hot tub. Head to Swansboro, Beaufort, Harker's Island, or Bare Island for day trips; rent a kayak at the bridge in Swansboro; charter a fishing expedition and become your own "Old Man and the Sea" champion-- Michael Jordan fishes here; you should, too!
At nighttime, head to the outdoor hot tub that sits beneath the stars; or walk down to grab a bite and drink at Billfish; Indian Beach is secluded, uncrowded, with unspoiled beauty; watch the shrimp boats catch tonights supper, then appreciate the dolphins as they follow the boats in. Majestic, wild oceanic beauty at its rawest and most handsome.

Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Shimmy's Ocean Club Oceanfront Surf Shack, a comfy condo in Indian Beach, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular New Bern beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
