Strategies to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Book your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best New Bern rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Magnificent Sandcastle ocean-front 7br, Private pool, hot tub, kids room, decks has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular New Bern destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
