Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and choose your New Bern rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Studio:Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
