Booking the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Fantastic soundfront home with Inground Pool!! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
