Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Tidal Treasure 10% of for a 7-night booking! Bring your boat! Pet friendly! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
