Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Historic Downtown New Bern Condominium-1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
