Strategies to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking yourvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Home with golf cart, community pool, easy access,Spinnakers Reach community has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
