Tricks and tips to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

When to book a New Bern rental & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Hook Wine and Sinker, Oceanside House in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
