Booking the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental in the New Bern area:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Hunt For The Best, Oceanfront House in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
