Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the rightvacation home:
- To start, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. The Hamptons, Oceanfront Duplex in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
