Booking the best New Bern rental home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick a perfect New Bern rental home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Impeccable home w\/ pool on the desirable Ocean Ridge Drive of Atlantic Beach, NC has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
