Strategies for getting the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Maritime West Unit C-33- Oceanfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
