Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Mimosa Manor, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
