Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best rental in Emerald Isle:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. White Sand, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
