Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Pine Knoll Shores rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's New Bern vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfect New Bern vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. MULTI-LEVEL, OCEANFRONT - ENJOY BEACON'S REACH AMENITIES has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
