Rental home tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Emerald Isle:
- To start, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Central Emerald Isle, Private Beach Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
