How to get the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your New Bern vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home in Atlantic Beach:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Newly Remodeled Charming Beach Cottage with Private Pool in Historic Salter Path has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
