Julie:
"This was a ideal home. Great location. Walking distance to the beach. Totally outfitted with so many extras from toiletries, and family games, to cleaning supplies. The beds were so comfortable. Clean. And when we needed to communicate with the host, he was readily available for us every time. The photos in the listing are exactly what you get. Recommend reservations, at “Amos Mosquito” right down the street for a meal. And the restaurant, “Southern Salt” was another favorite we discovered. Wonderful stay. Would recommend."
Anna:

The home was outfitted with everything we needed, from beach toys and chairs to a high chair, bug spray, kitchen essentials, and everything in between. Michael was marvelous at communicating with us, as well!"

Tricks and tips to get the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Not Your Typical Beach Rental Fully Stocked House has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
