Getting the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book the rightrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4BR duplex close to town and ocean front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.

Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
