Tips and Tricks to get the very best New Bern vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront Complex with 2 bedrooms and Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
