Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:
When to reserve a New Bern rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at New Bern restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT TOP FLOOR UNIT at A Place at the Beach, Beautifully Renovated has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
