Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Condo-Breakers C32 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
