Tips for getting the perfect New Bern vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
